Please take the time to read our Studio Induction & User Guidebefore your first session.
1. Booking & Payment
All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance through our website or in person.
Your booking is only confirmed once payment has been received.
Session prices, times, and formats may change, any changes will be communicated via our website or email.
Please arrive on time. We cannot extend your session if you arrive late.
Missed sessions or no-shows are non-refundable and non-transferable.
2. Session Types
Freedom Sessions
Freedom Sessions are self-directed studio sessions aimed at users who have completed an induction or demonstrated prior experience.
A member of staff will be present to oversee the studio, ensure safe working practices, and offer limited guidance where possible, but these sessions do not include teaching or step-by-step instruction by default.
These are not structured classes - you are responsible for planning and managing your time, and cleaning up after working.
Clayfolk accepts no liability for damage to your work, we take care to store work safely, but cannot guarantee against accidental damage.
Studio Inductions
Inductions are designed to build confidence and understanding of how to safely and effectively use the studio and its equipment.
Completion of an induction does not make you an expert - you remain responsible for your own safety and actions at all times.
If you are ever unsure how to use a tool, material, or piece of equipment, you must ask a staff member before proceeding.
Taught Classes & Workshops
These sessions are structured and led by a Clayfolk tutor.
Exactly what materials, firings, and instruction included will be clearly stated in the session description.
Please follow all tutor guidance and studio safety rules.
3. Cancellations, Refunds & Rescheduling
Cancellations by you:
More than 7 days before your session: full refund or transfer to another date (subject to availability).
3–7 days before: 50% refund or one-time reschedule (if possible).
Less than 72 hours before: no refund or reschedule available.
Cancellations by Clayfolk:
In the rare case we need to cancel or reschedule a session (e.g. illness, maintenance, low enrolment), you’ll be offered a full refund or an alternative date.
Refunds are made to the original payment method and may take up to 10 working days to appear.
4. Studio Conduct & Behaviour
We aim to maintain a supportive, respectful, and inclusive space. All users are expected to:
Treat others, staff, and the space with care and respect.
Follow all health & safety guidance, including COSHH, tool handling, and dust control procedures.
Clean up your workspace before leaving, including washing tools, wiping surfaces, and returning equipment.
Refrain from using the studio under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Keep noise and phone use to a minimum in shared spaces.
Please take the time to read the Clayfolk Studio Induction and User Guide before your first session.
Clayfolk reserves the right to ask anyone to leave if their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, or disrespectful. No refund will be given in such cases.
Clayfolk reserves the right to refuse bookings or access to the studio at its discretion.
5. Responsibility & Liability
You are responsible for your own safety and conduct while using the studio.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clayfolk is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage to personal property while on the premises.
While we take great care with all work, firing outcomes are unpredictable - we cannot guarantee results or be held responsible for breakages, cracks, or glaze faults.
Any work left unclaimed after 30 days may be disposed of due to limited storage space.
Work must be clearly labelled with your name and date.
Clayfolk reserves the right to refuse to fire work that may damage the kiln or other users’ work.
Personal belongings are brought into the studio at your own risk.
6. Under-18 Attendees
The minimum age for attendance at Clayfolk is 12 years old.
If anyone attending a Clayfolk session is under 18, this must be disclosed in advance when booking so we can make appropriate arrangements and ensure the session is safely supported.
Where possible, we may recommend quieter sessions or times that are better suited to younger attendees.
A responsible adult must remain present at the studio at all times while anyone under 18 is attending a session.
We reserve the right to refuse participation where suitable arrangements have not been made in advance.
7. Health & Safety
Long hair must be tied back; no loose clothing or jewellery near machinery.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn in all working areas.
Only authorised users may operate kilns, wheels, or other powered equipment.
