Clayfolk – Studio Induction & User Guide
Last updated: April 2026
Learn, make, and connect through clay. To keep our community creative and safe, please follow these guidelines.
1. Health & Safety
The "No Dust" Rule: Silica dust is a hazard. Never dry-sweep. Use wet microfibre cloths/mops for all surfaces.
Attire: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes only. Tie back hair and remove jewelry/drawstrings near wheels.
Food: No eating/drinking at workstations to avoid ingesting materials.
2. Studio Procedures
Clean As You Go: Leave your station better than you found it.
Clay Recycling: Use designated "Reclaim Buckets." No clay down sinks.
Kilns: Authorized staff only. Keep the area clear.
Etiquette: Take personal tools home. Stay within your allocated workspace.
3. Emergency & Fire
Evacuation: Stop work immediately. Exit via main door/fire exits. Assembly Point: Opposite side of the road to studio.
Reporting: Tell staff immediately about any injury or "near miss." We log these internally for your privacy.
Contacts: We don't store your emergency contact numbers. Please keep an "In Case of Emergency" contact on your phone/bag.
4. Respecting staff, the Craft and the studio
Punctuality: Please arrive on time and ensure you have finished cleaning your station by the end of your booked slot.
Staff & Safety: For the safety of the community, staff instructions must be followed at all times. We advocate a culture of mutual respect.
Shelf Etiquette: Only touch your own work. Greenware is extremely fragile.
Shared Tools: Clean, dry and return hand tools to their designated storage areas.
5. Photography & Social Media
We love celebrating our community! Occasionally we take photos for promotional use.
Please let us know if you prefer not to be photographed.
